Screenshot from WHO’s Situation Report 87 on COVID-19 As of today, the global number of COVID-19 cases has surpassed 2 million. Of those cases, about 545 000 have recovered/been discharged and about 140 000 people have died. The United States tops the list with almost 668 000 cases and over 1000 new deaths in the last day. Canada is currently the 11th country with the most cases worldwide. A (live) global count of COVID-19 can be found here: https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/. As of today, the number of COVID-19 cases in Canada is nearing 30 000. There are currently 29, 925 cases of COVID-19 in Canada and within Ontario, 8961. Of the total number of cases in Canada, there were 1546 new cases today. The Government of Canada currently places the risk to Canadians as high. This doesn’t mean that everyone will become infected. Just for comparison, Toronto’s infection rate is 86 per 100 000 people. Hands are one of the most common ways a virus can be transferred from one person to the next. Besides avoiding touching your face, washing your hands is one of the most cost-effective and efficient ways to limit the spread of the virus.
